Default Merchant Circle Help
Hi, everyone. I've read past threads on MC and see that many people don't get business from their listings on MC. Same here. But I'm trying to get my business name up in Google and Yahoo search rankings and am finding that although my website still hasn't made it to the ultimate page 1, my business is showing up through Google Maps, Merchant Circle, and a local business site called Richmond.com. So I'm trying use these three to their best advantage.

With all that said, any advice from those here who do use MC? Also, if anyone knows about MC Neighbors, should your user name be your personal name or business name? (I tend to mess this things up sometimes! )

Thanks!

Pam

I have had a Merchant Circle account for some time - when you sign up it asks for your name (personal) and your business name.

It will put your business name on your profile listing.

So far I have not gained any business directly from this listing but have connected with quite a few local businesses. I am not too much for live business networking - so this gives me a starting place if and when I meet other business owners at a function.

Hope that helps - good luck!

Thanks, Cindy. I set up the MC page for my business a while back here. But you can do this thing that I believe connects you with neighbors in your area, but I wasn't sure if that was business neighbors or individuals and it's called Merchant Circle Neighbors. You sign into that separately from within your MC business account. They ask for a user name and say you're signing up through Facebook. Not sure what this part of MC is, what it's for, etc., so I haven't created a user name for that yet. Can't seem to find much help on MC, even though they have a forum. Maybe I just haven't found the right section/thread yet on the forum. I don't like face-to-face networking either, but I might just have to swallow my fear and jump in someplace in town!

Thanks again!

Ok, this neighbors is new! I just signed up - there was no cost YIPEE.

As for what name to use - I decided that by what I use on other Social Media and how I am marketing & branding my company. When I started my company my company name and logo letters were not available and I had previously set-up some accounts.

So for mine I am using CBruce which is like my LI, FB and Twitter names with my company's EOS logo (same as my avatar here). This is consistent with all my other marketing efforts.

The Neighbors is similar to FB and MySpace in that you friend other businesses in your local area. You can issue coupons and discounts as well create lists and Q&As. It appears you can connect it to your FB page but haven't done that yet.

We can work with this and help each other figure it out because you are right the help/support/forum is not all that helpful!
