If anyone knows how to limit viewing of your friends so that you can keep your family/friends separate from business I would be interested in understanding how to do and use FB in the end.
You may not get to have separate accounts, but you CAN make a different page for your business. At the bottom left corner of your Facebook page there is a little "F". If you click on this "F" you can create business pages that are completely separate from your personal page. On the business page you don't have to include family members if you don't want to. It's very simple to set up and you can invite whomever you want to be "fans" of your business page. Hope that helps!

I am on FB and twitter, they are not so bad once you get the hang of it. It was a little annoying at first.

I tweet about our newsletters or blog posts. However, you have to make sure you do this in moderation. People don't want to just read about your business. Therefore, you need to make sure the information that you tweet about is relevant to your business. For example, my business is geared towards helping those who need marketing. Therefore, you will see me tweet a lot about marketing related information. Hope this helps!

I clicked on the FB toolbar icon -- what application do you use? There are pages of them and none I see are called Fan Pages or Business?

Ok, I figured out how to create it -- but now how do I see it on my home page or profile. It is published but I have to keep going back to the edit-create site to see it. FB is frustrating!

If you go to your info tab, at the bottom of the page will be all of the pages you are a fan of and it should be in that list

After you list your business in a group then it should show up on the right hand side as well under your profile and if you invite your friends to it then it will also show who is a member. It is showing up under my profile.

Thumbsup Mastering Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter
Hi everyone,

I had a page on Facebook and figured it out personally before setting up my business page.

I worked first on my personal settings to ensure that my personal information wasn't accessible to the whole world. I've created a business page which is accessible to anyone, but doesn't list all of my personal information. It took me a while, but I think I have it now.

Twitter scares me - and I think I'm pretty tech savvy. I just don't get the point.

My next goal is to post on myspace.

I have been on Facebook for a while and I am still trying to figure it all out! I am so used to MySpace .... but feel Facebook is a great place for business type networking.

I keep plugging away at it though! I love fan pages, those are a great way to get the word out about your business along with a Facebook ad.

I like the fan pages as well but it doesn't let you add request random people, only your friends....

yes but you can run an ad, or ask that your friends ad their friends, and so on :-) That's how I have about 60 followers on my fan page :-)

It's not "a lot" but it's a good start, have you tried that?

I have a couple of fan pages for some businesses that I work for and the # of fans are low, around 50. But one of the businesses I actually created a profile for and it has 400 friends and is a much better marketing tool even tho I know I risk the chance of them shutting it down for being a business....

Great! Glad to help! Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm certainly not an expert, but I can try.
