I am also on LinkedIn and I have also found it easy to keep in contact with people that I have met through traditional networking. I have not actually received any clients from this, but like anything else it is a work in progress.
It is also good for us (VAs) to have a LinkedIn profile because that is something you can offer your clients. My first client does not have the interest of learning online advertising and networking, but he wants his business to be promoted on it. This is where I came in, when he found out that this is something that I can do for him.
You need to learn about all that they different social media sites have to offer so that you can provide this service (which is quite easy when you get to know it better) to your clients.
