This post from Kimberly on how to use facebook for business is a very good link. I was struggling to figure out how to do this and google was not helpful. One thing worth mentioning; you are not supposed to set up a facebook profile for your business. You are supposed to create a business PAGE for this purpose. I went through and created a whole new profile for my business, and that is apparently a no-no. It is also not a simple task to delete a facebook account. If you are interested in facebook for business, go to this link that Kimberly has provided. It is worth the time and effort to get it right the first time!

Lisa....
I did the same thing - set up my business profile within my Facebook. You're right it is not an easy task to delete...in fact, I haven't been successful doing it yet.
Kimberly...
Thanks for the link -
Need to create a business "PAGE" instead.

It should actually be a fairly easy task to delete any profile you've created...(and yes, it's a no-no to have two different profiles as Facebook has been known to deactivate BOTH accounts if they find out you have two. You have one account with Facebook and then create as many Fan/Business pages you want in conjunction with having a personal profile.)

Click on "Settings" in the upper right corner and select Account Settings. At the bottom of this list of items is the link to click "Deactivate." This is how you get rid of a second account.

You're awesome, Kimberly. Thanks for the direction. I have emailed facebook twice to get directions to delete my second account for fear they would bounce me like you said. I have heard nothing back from them on this. I just went in and followed your directions and successfully deleted the account. If you search "how to delete facebook page" on facebook, you get all kinds of bad information. Again, thank so much!!

This is my link: http://companies.to/lakesvirtualassistant/

Would you be so kind as to test it. It worked for me. Thanks,

Lisa.

Yep, it works. Looks like a good start! Just became a fan! Don't forget to become a fan of your own page...perfectly acceptable and a good idea for getting your page in the news feed.

Promote it among your current contacts to get it going in people's news feeds. Post some links to good content that your fans might find interesting and do regular updates. Good stuff.

Also, if you haven't already, put your page settings to show your wall posts and your fan's wall posts. This helps to create content for your page and encourages people to post on your Fan Page wall which can also be good for starting conversations- possibly with potential or current clients.

Would love to have you as a fan on my page: JK Virtual Office Resources Fan Page

And don't forget to join VA Forums Fan page if you haven't already: VA Forums Facebook Fan Page.

Kimberly,

Thanks for the information. I, too, have been wondering how to create a business page in facebook. This great information.
