Default Help! Where to start??
I have had a personal Facebook page for a couple of years now (OK, maybe more like 4 or 5). Aside from the "cool" factor of connecting with people I haven't seen in years, I really don't use it much. I guess like anything else, it's a habit one needs to work at before it becomes second nature. When I go on my personal page, I look with awe at my friends, and how they manage to post every day, or at least every few days. I just don't feel I have anything "exciting" or "interesting" to post. (No, I don't have much of a life! )

I keep hearing how important it is to have (and constantly maintain) a business page. I do have a LinkedIn account, and am trying to connect via that as well. I just don't know where to start with Facebook. Do I need to create a whole new page for my business, as well as my personal page? Do I just "transform" my personal page into a business one? How in the world do I get in the habit of finding something interesting to post every single day? If anyone can point me in the direction of a book, or website, or blog, that answers some of these questions, I would really appreciate it!

You create a fan page. You can do this from your personal page. If you go to CLR Virtual Connection I believe there is information there for how to create one.

I would be very happy to show you what I know. If you want to schedule a time (and if you have skype) we could do a screen share and I could show you how to do it. Just let me know.

Thanks, Jody. I do have Skype (just signed up; haven't used it yet). I'll try to figure out a good time to connect and I'll let you know.

Hi,

The best thing about social media is that is it free advertising. There are over 200 million people using FB, with the fastest growing demographic 35-55 years old. FB is a great source of lead generation and staying in touch with past and current clients.

I would suggest that you outsource this to a VA that specializes in social media. They can do it in a fraction of the time you'll spend on it, saving you lots of frustration and freeing you up to spend time on income generating tasks that you enjoy!

Thanks for the great idea... outsourcing may be my most logical approach to this one. I will investigate it right away.

I set up a Twellow Account, added to my Twitter "Following", then most will reciprocate with a "Follow", then I Direct Messaged and asked people to join me on my Facebook profile. I built up a list on FB of about 5,000 in approx. four months using this method (5,000 is the FB profile limit). Then, I added a Fan Page which is now a "Like" page - I guess that is what they are calling it - and I DM my Twitter following to invite them to my Page for SusanDanielsBiz. Just as a note, I recently removed about half my FB profile friends because over time, I could tell who was really not interested in anything I had to offer and vice-versa and am now rebuilding my friends list. I think this is more efficient to than starting a new profile, simply because you are bound to get people from one signing on to the other, which is duplication of effort and I have always avoided that whenever possible.

You can also use the Page widget on your blogs and websites which will bring more traffic to your "Like" Page. You can have unlimited friends on your Page and they can be from anywhere - they don't have to be from your profile list of friends.

I hope this helps.

Warmly,
Susan

You don't need to have a personal profile to create a business page. If you really don't want to have a personal profile, you can delete it and still create a business page.
