I know how important it is to have a present on social network like Facebook. I have looked through social media marketing, but I'm still confused. I have issues keeping up with my personal Facebook, please help.

Facebook isn't going to bring you a lot of business, but if you plan on marketing your business online, you've got to get comfortable with it and keep up with it.

Start with 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening. Post a status update about working with your clients, but keep it social, not salesy. Respond to people, be helpful and show your expertise. Do the same thing on twitter by following people who are in your target market and show them that you're an expert in your field and that you can assist them.

There are a lot of pieces of online marketing that I don't particularly like, but it's all part of the game that we must play in order for people to find us and hopefully become clients or referral partners.

I'm one of those that reluctantly entered the Facebook and Twitter arenas. I honestly didn't see the potential but my blog does a get a few visits from both sites...although Twitter seems to do better, IMO.

Or you can hire someone to do it for you.

There are other VA's out there that do this.

I even do 'Facebook Babysitting' for other pages.

If not, it's all about setting processes, keeping your followers interested and interacting with each other.

While the core component of Facebook is the personal profile, Facebook Pages is a second layer that can help your company build awareness, share enthusiasm, create loyalty and strengthen inbound marketing. This is what you should be using for business promotion.

Your Facebook Page (or Fan Page) is a mini-website where you can share company information, grow a fan base, offer multimedia content, communicate events and give status updates. All of these contribute to brand awareness and increased loyalty by keeping prospects and customers informed. Unlike some Facebook Profiles, Facebook Pages are public and show up in search engine search results, which means your business page can help boost your inbound marketing efforts.

Set up a schedule to devote some time each day to all your social networks. A time saver tip is to link your blog and all your social networks together so that, say, when you post to your blog, it goes out to your twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts.
