I just found out about Linkedin and I'm still working on my profile. Some others I know recommended it and I was wondering as anyone gotten actual work from there?
I'm probably at a similar stage as you are Tammy. I've done some of my profile but not much more. There does seem to be a number of VA groups there but I haven't investigated them yet. I guess LinkedIn is another way of "making contacts" as with many of these social websites but without the fun of throwing a sheep! :giggle box:

One of the VA firms I sub-contract for had a linkedIn account (or does but rarely uses it)...anyway, the main conscencious is to not expect to get any work through linkedin, but rather to get noticed.
Most of my business comes through networking though I did have one good client forwarded to me by another forum that I am not a member of (hence I am not adding the forum name to protect the innocent.).
For exposure I would suggest Biznik and/or LinkedIn. For more advanced networking Facebook and IVAA are good ones as well as your local Chamber of commerce. And nothing beats face to face meetings. Never be afraid to say what you do! You never know who might be listening.
I have completed several paying projects that began with a contact through LinkedIn, usually from someone who sent me a message "out of the blue". It helps to be an "open networker", meaning that you accept invites from anyone that seems interesting. The larger your network, the more exposure you get.
