I've only used (paid) Google Ads extensively in relation to my business - but they often send out $100 credits so I haven't actually paid for Google Ads for ages. And of course the free Google business listing.

Craigslist takes too much time/work and offers very little payoff.

We've seen some great traffic from sites like Digg and StumbleUpon - when a really solid blog piece is published or a chunk of code released they tend to hit there first which can be a nice boost in traffic and can sometimes lead to potential client inquiries.

I have used YouTube on a very limited basis - I would like to do more there but haven't gotten my multimedia marketing campaign/direction/intention pinned down yet.

Great list! What have you tried?

I will have to agree with you about craigslist. I dont really use it that much. Im currently using Thumbtack, Superyellow pages, Manta(not listed) and google. I will use more as the year progresses. Since they are free, it wouldnt hurt to lose a couple of minutes to create a profile or two. Using Manta ive increased likes on facebook, twitter followers, and a client ( through email marketing).

You are welcome hazeleyez!

I have found You Tube to be very good exposure for my websites. Be sure to set up a Google account and claim your Google Places page as well. You Tube is owned by Google and I have found my videos (which link to my websites) to be indexed quickly in Google for popular keywords. It's helped a lot.

I just (today) established a free Manta profile. Have any of you had significant success with Manta?
