Can anyone give me some guidance on how to create a side banner for a Facebook Fan Page? What type of software would you use to create this? I was wondering if Publisher would work. I know you are allowed a max of 180 X 540 pixels for this profile picture and I want to take advantage of this "prime wall real estate", as Kimberly LeRiche said recently. I just don't know what is the best way of getting it done. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

any graphics program, photoshop, paintshop. You create you "banner" 600 by 200 pixels (is max). And do it like you are creating a graphic.

Yes, any program that can create a .jpg, .png or.gif image will work.

The current max size allowed is 200x600 but Facebook has said they will be changed this in the future to 180x 540 so I've been recommending that size from here on out so you don't have to go in and edit it later on.

Be sure to create a good space somewhere in the image that will work well as your thumbnail as the thumbnail (the image that shows up next to all of your posts) comes from your profile picture.
