Question Facebook question
Hello, everyone. I have a Facebook question from a potential client that I did not know how to answer. I let her know that I would ask on my virtual assistant forum, as there are so many Facebook experts here, and that I would get back to her. This is her question:

"Is there a way to verify a Facebook friend request that was denied by the recipient, and if there is a way to pull up or verify denied or deleted friend requests?"

Thank you so much for any insight or help with this.

Hi Patty ~

I'm not a FB expert but here's my understanding of FB requests:
If the recipient hasn't accepted or denied the request, their profile will show up in the Friends List as "pending". If the friend requested DOES NOT show up in the list, the request was denied. Same goes for friends who have deleted you. They will no longer be listed.

Hope that helps! Would love to hear if there are any new options

Deb

Thank you so much, Deb, for replying to my question. I researched this topic and found a few links that I thought might be helpful and sent them to her. I have a feeling that what she needs goes a little deeper than what I was able to come up with, as she deals with investigations. Your input really helped me answer her question .

I love being able to help out when I can, and I thank you so much for offering me your help and ideas on this!

As far as I know pending requests are no longer visible in your friends list. On the Facebook discussion boards it looks like they changed it over a year ago (to no longer list pending requests in your list of friends).

On the friend's profile page (where the 'friend' button would have been) it will show as 'friend request sent' if it has not yet been accepted or denied.

If the request has been denied and the person marked that they do not know you there will no longer be an option to add them as a friend.

If the request has been denied without a mark against the request the 'friend' button will be visible again.

Also, to cancel a pending friend request she can navigate to the friend's profile page and scroll down to the bottom of the left column - look for the 'cancel friend request' link. Of course to do this she would need to have kept track of who she requested connections with since there is no longer that handy list of pending requests.

There is also no record that someone has deleted you from their list, or vice versa.

I hope this helps!
