Okay, so I am really trying to figure out my Facebook page, but I'm stumped!

Here's the deal:
I have a personal profile that I created a while back, and then I recently created a page for my biz. After getting my 25 fans, I went in to create my custom username for the URL to my biz page. Thought everything was going well, but when I type in my custom URL (www.facebook.com/writeassociate), it goes to my personal profile, not my biz page. What am I doing wrong? Someone please help...I'm pulling my hair out here!

Hi Tammy,

What happened is when you went to the custom URL you had not set your profile URL yet so the information you input was applied to your profile.

So if you go back into http://facebook.com/username again you will see a link that says:
"Set a username for your pages"
Click that to set the URL for your fan page.

Now that you have set the URL for your profile you cannot change it, just so you know

Also, when creating your URL for your Fan Page, if you want to use something creative, do it now, because it will NEVER change. I sometimes wish I had done that for mine. But oh well.

Thanks so much for the quick responses...wish I'd looked into setting the username a bit more before setting my personal profile as my biz name, but what can ya do?

And thanks for the tip, Rebecca...I picked something that will hopefully serve me well over the coming years!

yep you have to do it for your page, not your profile.

i currently have my own name for my personal profile (long story!) but i want "weloveadmin" or something along that lines for my fan page url. I'm still on 16 fans and my page's been up for a few weeks!!! *looks confused*.

I already added myself to your fan list, Rebecca, but if anyone else wants to list their page I'll become a fan of you too!

Liz - I haven't done much with my page yet...trying to get on Ping.fm so I can keep it updated along with my Twitter account, but the other day I couldn't get it to work, so I'll have to try again when I have the time. Do you have a fan page? If so, let me know and I'll become a fan!

Did you ask friends of your personal profile to become a fan of your page? I sent a request out to my friends to help me reach the 25 level so I could get my custom URL, and then I too got stuck at 16 fans so I asked them again!

Got about another 20 fans, enough to push me over. Just something to try!

i tried it but none of my friends speak to me anymore so have refused my fan page request....

It seems like Ping.fm is having issues. I am trying to put a new clients stuff on there but it won't cooperate with the Facebook stuff right now. Buggers!!
