Default FaceBook Marketing with Facebook Welcome Pages
Hi All

I am in the middle of an article at the moment about Facebook. It is so huge and did you know less than a Year ago, many people didn’t even know what it was?

Now it is being used as a Marketing Tool, and rightly so.

Do you all have a Business Page in Facebook? I think if you dont: you are mad.

I have even listed Services that are 'selling like hotcakes' to do with Facebook. (Welcome Pages & Subscribe to Newsletter Tabs).

So I guess this post is asking: are you apart of the phenomena?

Feel free to connect with me on there- search for me- or my user name is dawsondocumentsva- would love to connect with fellow VA's.

Erin

A lot of the VA's here have facebook fan pages. Mine is http://www.facebook.com/Business2.0 I even have added some of its fan VA's facebook pages to the page favorites.

My whole fan page is devoted to making fan pages better. It's a great way to get business, and it's lots of fun isn't it?

I FBML too.

I am on FB personally but not for my business. I just started a FB break because it tends to distract me plus sometimes I get tired of seeing some of the things the people in my friend's list write. I am working on building a FB page for the VA firm I work with but haven't had a lot of time to really dedicate to it. For my business I use Linked In and Twitter but not to the extent that I really should.

I have to say that I have picked up a at least 5 clients in the past 3 weeks from Facebook.

Admittedly- some have been to complete their Facebook Welcome Pages and Business Pages in general- as I said- I think it is a HUGE Marketing Tool.

Of course it may depend on your Niche and the way you run your company.

I found this article very interesting: Article

Feel free to join my page- and I will do the same

I have had a FB fan page for my business for about a year and as I take a course on social media marketing I'm working on ideas to make it better. It's a great learning experience that I can then apply to my clients. I also want to connect with other VAs on my business page. Fan my page and I'll do the same!

my Fan Page is here. Check it out. Facebook is HUGE. It is the most visited site on the net. If you don't have a Fan Page you are missing out on a HUGE marketing sector.

I have been working on a site for a while now about Fanpages and how you can learn things to make yours better and to help you understand them more. The site is FanTABulous Fan Pages. I am hoping to make it a great resource for self learners.

I agree that Facebook is huge and is great tool for more than marketing but for creating connections and engagement. It is important to have a fan page that looks good and incorporates good content for fans too but, creating a community with your fans is really where the magic begins but it's also the hard part which requires the most amount of work, strategy and planning.

Facebook will reach a saturation point as more and more people and businesses join so the important thing will be to know how to set yourself apart. Also, most people don't realize that there is a specific formula that Facebook uses for how often or how much your page will show up in your Fans News feeds. This includes how much interaction your page has on it and how often your fans actually visit your page.

I've probably learned the most about creating community and engagement on a Fan Page from a page that I help out on for a client who is also a social media coach. She is helping her client to learn how to to use Facebook for just exactly this reason (create community) and it's been fascinating to watch it grow. Not only did they gain several hundred fans in just a week, but almost every update they give gets between 5-15 comments from their fans. I call that a success and they have a created a community of people who are keenly interested in their events and business.

Question Re: FaceBook Marketing with Facebook Welcome Pages
Hi there - new member learning...

I like the idea of a Facebook page as I have 100s of personal contacts already... whereas LinkedIn is so far restricted to people I have worked with in the past.

But do you find that "friends" get a little fed-up with the marketing? Or perhaps the "business page" makes this okay and detaches my from personal page?

I know that my personal contacts are a great starting point to finding busy professionals who could use a VA but there seems to be a code of ethics where one doesn't lean on their friends... or is this just a terribly british attitude?! (Actually, I am a kiwi living in France...)

Would love to hear thoughts...

Donna

Donna,
In answer to your question, a fan page is generally what is used if you already have a personal facebook page. I use the fan page. If you don't have a personal facebook page, you can set up a business profile, which is what the celebrities use. This separates business from personal. As you are only allowed one profile, you can't have a personal and a business profile, hence the fan page. One thing, if you have a personal and a fan page, be prepared for some to request your personal page. I'm not sure why, but they do. If you accept them, you can put them in a friend catagory, which is what I have done.

Hi there guys,

I have just set up my fan page on Facebook for my VA business here and I am finding a great tool to have to connect with potential new clients also for staying intouch with previous clients. I generally use my profile page and my fan page to advertise my business but in two different ways. I use my profile page to update people on my progress on a more personal level and my fanpage to update business contacts on a more professional level. I find its a great combination.

OK - can someone enlighten me as to how to get the Welcome page on FB? I'd love to have that as the default landing.

Hi Mary,
You'll need to add the static FBML application to your fan page and then you can basically add website code to create the page. You will also need to make sure the application settings include making a Tab available.

You can make that tab the default tab using the "Settings" on the Wall. Hope this helps.
