Smile Facebook business fan pages
Can a Facebook business fan page "fan" another business fan page? I've been trying to find this out on Facebook but haven't had luck yet....if anyone knows I'd love to find out

Thanks!!

Rosie,
No you can't do that.
Only regular pages can fan/like fan pages. So if you have a business FB account and have a FB fan page for your business (2 different things) then your business FB account can fan/like pages.

I didn't want to combine my personal FB account with my business so I have that account(under the name old friends know me by with maiden name included) and then I have Christina Nelson account and Vital Office Solutions fan page, both for business.

Hope that makes sense.

An Official Business Page cannot "Like" another page. You can add the other page to your business favorites.

Only personal profiles can "Like" an Official Business Page (new name for a Fan Page).

Thanks for letting me know. A friend of mine has a business page on Facebook, and he wanted to 'spread the word' about it. Probably the best way for him to do that is to 'like' other business through his personal account and comment on their pages (and hence redirect people to his business). Ah, the fun of social networking

Thanks again for your help!

Christina...that is rather clever. I would have made a separate account just to fan pages as opposed to using my regular personal account to fan pages. I'm sorry I didn't do that when I set the Fan page up.

Good to know, though.

Actually having more than one account with Facebook is against their terms of service. I know others who have multiple accounts and usually it works out just fine. But in the event that Facebook figures it out, then there exists the possibility that they shut down both accounts and you risk losing everything (which I've heard of happening as well). Facebook actually tracks which IP you sign from for which account. That's not to say that you have sign in with the same IP each time, but just a heads up that it is something they track.

You are supposed to have one account with a personal profile (which you can hide quite easily from search engines or from Facebook search) and then all business pages come from that one account.

Only people, as in personal profiles, can fan a page as mentioned above. You can also use the tagging feature in your status updates from your business page to gain some visibility on another page.

Thanks, Kim! That's good to know!

I will check out the tagging feature.

Is there a reason for FB not allowing fan pages to connect with other fan pages?

I guess there are no more fan pages, now they changed it to 'like'. Apparently the 'become a fan' choice was to daunting for some folks.

Just a thought!
One thing you can do is add the business page as a "favorite" and then mention (tag) the page in a post letting everyone know they are on your lists of favorites.

The Virtual Assistant Forums page is good example of this. check them out! It's toward the middle of the page on the left side of screen.
