Default Do you tell your client's Twitter friend who you are when you reply back?
This question has been in the back of my mind forever now. When I Twitter, Facebook and etc for my client, esp responding to comments and questions on Twitter do you tell them you're their assistant some way.

Most of the time for Facebook I forward the email to them and they log on and respond but for Twitter they don't go on very much so I just say thanks for retweeting or You're welcome in most cases. If it's a question then I'll definitely send it to my boss. Should I some way tell them that I'm not my boss or maybe put my initials so they know it's not her personally.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi Angela,

If you are acting on behalf of your client in their Twitter or Facebook account, I would ask your client whether or not they want people to know it is not them responding personally. If the question is should you be responding on behalf of your client and not telling people, I would say that's up to you to decide what you feel is the right thing to do.

Either way, I would think that if you have a policy in place you should make it clear to your client what your firm policy is when you sign a contract.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Kate

I tend to forget that I'm hired to Tweet on their behalf. When I do send out Tweets and Facebook status updates I normally put it in second person terms so they know it's not her. I plan on talking to one of my clients about specifically what she wants to do with the Twitter.
