Default BizNik for Online Small Business Networking
A friend of mine from college told me about this site yesterday. I spent today exploring it. http://biznik.com This could be really useful to anyone looking to network and find clients. I am still figuring out the site. It also allows you to post articles, join groups for discussion and find people who might need your services.

BizNik has been around for a really long time (respectively, I guess - given the nature of things on the internet), I think it might be better known if LinkedIn hadn't popped up. Like any of the networking sites it's all about what you put into it. I don't think it has an large a user base as LinkedIn but that doesn't mean it isn't worth using as part of your marketing strategy.

Kim,

I am a member of Biznik for some time and have found it to be quite useful. A client found me on Biznik when I responded to an article she had posted there.

As mentioned, it is only as good as the effort put into it. So it does require reading articles and making comments and preferably, adding articles of your own to gain some recognition.

One 'thing' I like is that my Biznik profile ranks higher than my LinkedIn in Google, which surprised me.

I am also on Biznik, but I have not put into it what I should! I've submitted a couple of articles and that's really been it.

I've been on Biznik for about three years. It can be a great community for networking sometimes. They are invested in making sure its about making connections and networking and not just self promotion. They can seem a little hardcore about it sometimes. They really like to promote that with their highest level paid account, you get great SEO benefits and I think that's probably true.

I joined right after I started my business and I didn't find that Virtual Assistants were very well received there (that was 3 years ago though and I think attitudes have changed since then). I do now have a client who I originally met at a networking event from Biznik so it's been good in that respect.

Biznik is also good for finding events and other people local to your area.
