Default Anyone using bit.ly
Anyone using bit.ly to shorten and track URLs in Twitter? If so, how do you like it ... do you find the extra step time consuming ... or do you know any shortcuts to using it in Twitter?

I use bitly for Twitter and other sites.

I don't find it time consuming. I copy in the link and I either copy that shortened link into a post or you can also send a tweet right from bitly using that link. You send it from the big box in the center of the screen.

PM me if you need help.

Thanks Janine,

I use TweetDeck and usually have a dozen other windows open at the same time (sheepish grin) and find the extra step of shortening the URL in bit.ly annoying - especially when I am firing off a dozen or so Tweets.

The info it provides however on what links are generating interest is valuable.

I LOVE bit.ly! It is great if you have a long URL, or if you post a shorten URL just on twitter or whatever; it lets you know how many clicks you get! It's worth trying; I have found it very useful. I have it as my URL for twitter even. http://www.bit.ly/TweetTools/ See? It doesn't open to my homepage; it opens to some twitter tools I use. This reminds me, I need to add twitterfeed! I'll do that now. . . Good Luck sorry about the rambling. ADD has me seriously distracted today. :joker:

Hi Cyndi,

I don't shorten all that many links so perhaps that is why I don't find it to be so annoying. I understand what you mean if you have many to shorten. Perhaps other link shortening links would be an option. Here's on a nice blog on several choices.

You might want to look at Hootsuite which allows you to click on a "Hootlet" and send your Tweet immediately or schedule for later. I find it useful when I want to forward a webpage or blog article. It automatically shortens your url and also allows you to track clicks.
