What is you Business Structure? Just curious. I'm thinking about going Sole Proprietorship

1) Sole Proprietorship

2) Partnership

3) Corporation

4) S Corporation

5) Limited Liability Co. (LLC)

I am a sole proprietor. I have been thinking for a long to incorporate. But would not make too much of a difference. If I go for any business financing or credit cards, the banks still make me personally guarantee them. I have been told you need to be in business for at least two years. However one of my client recently applied for a loan and was turn down. They have great credit.

Sole Proprietorship is what I went with, however, I may go with LLC later on if my business gets larger.

I have to research which options would be best.

I am sole Proprietorship. My attorney informed me that in our line of business, the LLC won't provide any additional protection to me personally. I would still be liable either way. As for tax advantage, he said since it just passes through onto the personal tax return, right now it isn't practical to do anything other than Sole Proprietorship. He did suggested E & O insurance, which I am able to get at $300. Did anyone else get different legal advice?

Thank all of you for answering. Seems soleproprietor is the clear choice. LLC just seems like more trouble to me, but I see alot of them around.

That is what my accountant stated sort of, never spoke with a legal person though. I am going to be calling today about E&O Insurance see how much it will cost, should be cheap since I already have homeowners and car insurance through this company!

I am also a sole proprietor. I have been thinking of changing. Judging from the comments above, I am still on the right track.
