Default Smart Phones
I work in Social Media pretty much exclusively and use my Android to do a good deal of it when I'm away from my desktop and laptop. I have my apps on it for Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook, my email, etc. They are hooked into client accounts so I can work anywhere.

Would I be able to take the monthly payments for my cell as a deduction at the end of the year?

Thanks for any information

Hi Tony,

Well I'm not a tax person but I am a bookkeeper. Do you pay for it out of your business account? Is it used for your business? If you pay for it out of your business account and you use it for your business, why wouldn't it be an expense like any other such as your phone, fax etc.? You need to ask your tax preparer but that's my view from the bookkeeping side.

Take care,

I use TurboTax for all my tax prep, so I don't have a preparer, per se.

Since, I'm just starting out, anything I purchase for the business, I do it out of of the same checking account that I use for everyday use.

I do keep receipts of business expenses and, yes, I use it almost exclusively for my social marketing work.

Hello,
My tax lady uses my cell phone as a deduction. I have a smartphone and use it for business as well. I just keep track of the bills and turn them over to her. However, I don't always pay the bill out of my business account. I'm not an accountant but I would definitely check into it

Good Luck!
