Default Should a business have its own hosting account (for tax purposes)?
I hope I am posting this on the right forum

I have two separated home based businesses. One of them is obviously VA. I currently have a website for my other business already up and running. And I am in progress of developing another one for VA.

I have a hosting account for my other business. On this account I can add on as many domains/websites as I wish with no additional cost.

But I have been asking myself this questions: Should I have two separated hosting accounts for each business for tax purpose?

That's a really good question - I suppose if you want to claim it as a deduction it makes more sense to host in a different account. I'm just starting to learn about taxes and deductions, etc. and it seems to me the more documentation you have the better - since it's for two different business entities I'd keep the info sep. as well.
BUT - since there's no cost for hosting the second site it wouldn't really matter I guess, as there would be no relative expense deduction. (am I making sense?? )

We have all of our own sites wrapped up in two servers but we also have all of our business ventures wrapped up in the one LLP company.

You don't need to have a separate hosting accounts. You can either split the cost between the 2 businesses, or have 1 business pay the whole amount, as long as you don't deduct the hosting amount 2x you're ok.

If you want to split the cost between the 2 buildings, then for record purposes just print out the online payment receipt and write on it how much of the bill goes to which business.

I have to agree, there is no need to make 2 hosting accounts.
