Default Virus Scanner Suggestions
We are looking for a new virus scanning program. I've been used Windows Live One Care but am discontinuing it and we don't like Norton (slowed performance). What do you folks use?

We uninstalled Norton as well - not only does it slow everything down it does NOT interact well with Vista. I have Windows Security Center now which includes Windows Defender and that's about it (plus, it's free!)

Hi Julia,

If you use Cogeco as your ISP they provide F-Secure with their internet packages. I've used it for over 5 years and have never had a problem. The only problem is that it won't update if you travel. So if you're looking for something *portable* then it won't be a good choice for you.

I didn't like Norton either. Too many software conflicts.

We use AVG too. It was recommended by our IT guy at the last company I was at. Make sure you set it to get updates regularly.

Make it a great day!

We do use Cogeco; I'll look into that, especially if it's something we're already paying for.

Thanks!

Hi Shari, just checked out Cogeco - their online scanner isn't compatible with Vista so I'm still looking. Thanks anyway.

Well that stinks. Thanks for letting me know. I won't be upgrading to Vista just yet.

Hope you find what you're looking for.

I also use AVG free version but only since last Jan, when I uninstalled Norton as subscription was up.
I have set AVG to up-date daily and it does so first thing in the morning while I am sorting out the days duties but if you are working on the computer at the time, it does not interfer with what you are doing.

I use Trend Mirco (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) it is what used by the "Geek Squad" at Best Buy.

It is a great product and I've been real happy with it. It is compatable with Vista and the cost is very reasonable.
