Exclamation UPS/DHL Virus verified
This came into my e-mail box this morning, I did check it on Snopes and it's confirmed. Please be careful if you see this and do not open it!

New Virus (NO JOKE)

This is legitimate. Please pass this along to your friends.

The newest virus circulating is
The UPS/FedEx/DHL Delivery Failure.

You will receive an email from UPS/Fed Ex Service along with a packet number. It will say that they were unable to deliver A package sent to you on such-and-such a date.

It then asks you to print out the invoice copy attached.

DON'T TRY TO PRINT THIS.
IT LAUNCHES THE VIRUS!

Pass this warning on to all your PC operators
At work and home. This virus has caused Millions of dollars
In damage in the past few days.

Snopes confirms that it is real.

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on the latest email viruses! I know I get this one at least a few times a week... have to wonder who actually clicks on it though!

There was only one virus email I rec'd this year that I actually showed to Hamid to make sure it wasn't something I should open - it was posed as if from the IRS and said I'd made a mistake (underpayment) with my tax payment, though looking back I realize that if I had underpaid quarterly taxes they wouldn't do anything about it until the end of the year when I filed for the whole year. But still, it made me nervous enough that I did double check! Otherwise, I think I've gotten pretty good at spotting these kinds of emails.

Thanks for the info. I could see this really affecting a retail place like the gallery I work at. We ship stuff via UPS every day. I'm just now seeing this and haven't heard of anyone who got it but I'll pass it along just the same.

Tess, I think I've gotten that same IRS one and, like you, double clicked on it just to be sure. It came from mails@irs.gov so it seemed legit at first, but then I noticed that the link they wanted you to click on was a geocity.com link (after I clicked it, of course....DOH!).
