Default Software for backing up your entire HD
I'm purchasing an external HD to create a copy of my internal HD and make regular backups as well. I'm looking for software to do this. One that was recommended to me is Acronis True Image 2011. If you do this kind of thing, what type of software would your recommend? I want to back up the WHOLE HD, not just the data files. (I already back up the data files regularly to flash drives.)

Thanks for any suggestions!

Many external drives come with software built into it. They are often very easy to setup and use.

Hi Pam,
I use a free version of Acronis. They have three free versions that are according to the brand of hard drive you have. It's great! Another option is Image for Windows which works great and is low priced. Or even if you don't have the hard drive that is associated with a free version, it is worth it to pay for Acronis.
