Default Passwords Being Passed in Email
I've signed up to a couple of things recently that are legitimate products and such...but when I signed up for these products, which require login credentials, when I received the emails back from them rather than the password showing up encrypted in the email they are coming back showing my password spelled out it all its glory!

Has anyone ever run across this? Is it actually an issue I should bring up with these companies or am I concerned over nothing.

Thanks much!

I only worry about encrypted passwords with sites where I spend money. But that is just me, there are a few sites I belong to which still email out my password, but since they don't include my username I have never worried about it.

Yeah...these include my user name as well on the confirmation email. I'm just more wondering about the fact that a visibible password is being sent through email. Bad thing is that if you then go to change it, just to be safe, then they confirm the change and send the new one over visibly in an email. LOL..

I would be worried if these are sites where you are buying things too. If you aren't then consider their benefits, they seem to be using older style software that doesn't allow or afford them the ability to send encrypted passwords.

I don't usually worry about this unless it's a financial website or similar.

I think if you need to recover a password from a site there really isn't any other way to get it to you than to email it, and then of course it's up to the user to log in and update the password to something secure.

I don't think you should worry about it, because usually once you get the password, you can go in and change it.
