Pando had a virus with it :(
Hi all Hope you all are having a nice Sunday....

I haven't posted in a long while but VAF is dear to my heart so I wanted to take a minute and tell you about this bad virus that I just removed.

It was attached to Pando. In the past, I never had a problem with Pando for large file shares. But today I installed it on my newest computer and that's when my problems started.

It changed my IE homepage to www2.mystart search bar which was powered by Yahoo. It is actually known as mystart.incredible.com. Yes I agreed to the change but didn't know anything bad would happen.

Then every time I loaded up Firefox this horrible search bar would come up. So I uninstalled Pando since I knew that was the problem but it didn't go away.

I Googled it and everything that came up said it was a malicious trojan virus and would upload all kinds of bad stuff on your computer. It gave detailed instructions how to remove it. Normally I have no problem with removing viruses but this one looked more dangerous and I did not want to harm my newest computer.

So I did a System Restore and changed the default date and that didnt' work so then I went back and used their default date and it worked! I don't know why I didn't see this in the Google research. So just be aware that Pando now comes with this virus.

No more Pando for me. I will use something else next time.

Forgot to say that when I tried to click on the Pando link to download the large file that I needed Pando for in the first place, it opened up 69 and counting Firefox tabs!!! I got rid of them but everytime I loaded up FF it started all over again....so I knew my computer would crash at any time and shut it down. Then later when I logged on again I immediately went to System Restore....and it worked. That was a close one!

JoCarole,

Good to see you again! Thanks for the warning with Pando. I have not used it in the past and certainly will not start now.

Thanks Lee and Janine, it's been a while I know. Good to talk to you both too.

I was lucky to get rid of Pando and then I sent my file with Send6 and it was received immediately. But I guess now I will have to be more careful. Sometimes I want to do what I have to do and get on to the next thing. So many bad things out there in cyberspace, will have to be more careful now.
