Helen -- Not all pop-ups are viruses. Some are just pop-ups. Check your Internet settings. Try downloading a different browser like Firefox.
Also, check out
www.komando.com . It is the web site of Kim Komando. She hosts a radio show on computers and technology. She has a LOT of freeware, programs, and general information. Chase down a different virus program and use it.
Then, start looking for some better programs. I pay for McAffee and have for years. I rarely ever get tripped up by a virus, but every now and again I run a freebie just to check.
A word of advice -- If you are going to be interacting with clients via email, FTP or any other online manner, invest in a quality virus protection software program. You don't want to give or receive a bug with your clients. Some are trojans and could shoot crucial client information into the cyberworld. There are some good free ones. Take the time to check into them.
