Wow! Thanks for this information... I am an avid Dropbox user and the thought of someone hacking my information is scary. I'm downloading the tool to encrypt my files now.
I haven't begun using Dropbox yet, but I was wondering about the security. In fact, I'm wondering about security on a lot of the online filesharing programs.
I think this applies to any piece of software we use online - wordpress, gmail, quickbooks online and so on. Sometimes it's overwhelming to try and understand on how these tools protect our files. Not sure if I want to learn about the whole encryption thing

A friend of mine does transcription that must be secure, HIPAA compliant. She checked into Dropbox, among others, and was not impressed with it from that standpoint. She felt it would be too easy for someone to get access to the files.
What she does with most of her documents is she encrypts her e-mails and attachments on her end and the receiving party has the information to un-encrypt on their end.
