Default SEO Tool

I just found this through my webhost. http://www.ibusinesspromoter.com/download/index.htm

The full program is a few hundred $$ but you can download the demo for free and it takes you step-by-step through a review of your SEO and what you should be looking at.

You have to install the program on your computer, fyi.

I haven't done it yet because my firewall is blocking it and I don't want to futz with it right now, but I will be.

Hmmm, be careful with any scripts like this that ask you to download and install, they are very often stocked with spyware....we've seen some similar things pop up here in conversations on the forums and always end up advising removal. Not saying this one is, but just be careful...

There are loads of web based SEO tools that are great for checking out what's going on on your site.

The fact that when I click the link it automatically wants to start a download makes me highly suspicious...fortunately, I have a block up.

Don't use IBP. I had a copy sent to me by a client who wanted me to use it on her site. I hated it! I sent it back and told her I wouldn't use it. I tested it on my own site first and it had me changing all kinds of things I knew shouldn't be changed. It just didn't sit right with me. I'll be the first to admit I'm no SEO "guru" but I do know enough about it to know when something doesn't seem right.

Some SEOs like it, but personally, I think if you want to do SEO you really should take the time to learn it or have someone who knows what they're doing handle it for you. Using a software program for stuff like that can create all kinds of trouble.

What research I've read so far about the service sounds good and the download didn't trigger any alerts when it was scanned so who knows. I'm going to play around with it for a while and see what I learn.

I figure if nothing else it will give me ideas on what to look at, even if I don't implement every suggestion they make.

BTW - you can download it here through cnet (http://www.download.com/Internet-Bus...-10189019.html) which is very reputable and guarantees that all downloaded software contains no funky stuff. It also has user reviews of older versions of the software.
