Cool SEO: A simple way of getting your website indexed by search engines

If you want your Virtual Assistant website to get index by major search engines, the first way is to submit your website directly to those search engines:

For Google go to:
http://www.google.com/addurl/

For Yahoo!:
http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html

For Microsoft Live: (Former MSN)
http://search.msn.com.sg/docs/submit.aspx

For Alexa:
http://www.alexa.com/site/help/webmasters

But there is another easy way (after you've done manual submissions to the search engines above), and that is having a signature under your posts here and posting regularly.
Because this website is well indexed by all major search engines over time and they visit this website regularly (every hour or so) then they follow your signature link and add your website to their index.

To edit your signature you can click "User CP" on the top menu and then "Edit Signature" on the left menu.

After you've done these two steps, you can also use the "Blog RSS feed" feature (if you have a blog or if your website has an RSS feed) - you can see an example under my username:
Codehead Webmaster Forums: A link with my latest forum post title
You can customize this to say for example:
My latest blog post: Your latest blog post title

Don't worry, you don't need to update "Your latest blog post title" every time you make a blog post or add new content to your website, that part will be done automatically

To do this:
Click "User CP" on the top menu and then click "Edit Options" on the left menu, then scroll all the way down and find the field called "Blog RSS feed", enter your RSS feed URL and in the next field called "Blog title" put the title you want to be displayed, for example I filled that field with "Codehead Webmaster Forums", you can say "My latest blog post" or whatever you like

Then the rest will be done automatically and whenever your posts are shown, there is a little piece of code that opens up your RSS feed and displays it under your username.

The only thing is, to save server resources, your RSS feed will be cached for only 6 hours, that is it will be automatically update every 6 hours.

This is also another back-link which search engines will follow and other than that it will be a promotion for your blog and tempt other members to view and read your latest blog posts

This forum has great features that will help you with your website and business (of course other than ideas and articles)

You can reply to this post or PM me directly and I will be more than happy to help you with everything I wrote in this post. (Putting links in your signature, finding your RSS feed etc.)

All the best!

There are two methods of verifying your website, one is with meta tag and one is with a file.
So go to Google Webmaster central and choose to verify your website, then there is a drop down box:
Choose verification method...

Choose 'Upload an HTML file', then it will give you a file name similar to:
googlea0caa18a8317462e.html

Open your Notepad and on the top menu go to:
File > Save or press Ctrl+s

Now enter that file name in the 'File name' field and click save. (it doesn't mather if it's empty)
Then upload this file into your website along with index.html file, so you can view it from your web browser.
So if this is your website's URL: http://www.winslowgirlva.com/
And this was the file name Google gave you: googlea0caa18a8317462e.html
You will have to be able to type:
http://www.winslowgirlva.com/googlea...a8317462e.html
In your browser and view the file you just made and uploaded.

Then back to Google Webmaster central, click 'Verify' and you should be all set.

Post back if you run into a problem.

Thanks for the info, I need all the help I can get. SEO and all that other web stuff is not my "niche" at all! Thanks to the forums, I'm learning a lot (whether I want to or not). Heck, by the time I get done learning all this stuff for my own website I may have a list of new services to offer! (j/k, I'll leave it to the pros)
