Default SEO Options: Description vs. Keywords
My website creator is asking to put information in these fields. Wouldn't I put the same info in each? What's the difference or 1 or 2 examples of what I would put in there?

Hi Mary,
I'm curious as to why the person building your website hasn't offered you more guidance on this - but that's a sep. issue

Your page descriptions should reflect the content of each individual page and each should be a complete sentence (as this will show up when that particular page is returned in search results) and your keywords are sitewide - so should be comprehensive relative to your profession, niche, service offerings, location, etc.

Hope that helps!

I have built my own website... Notice on my own website I don't list web design as one of my services!!! Geez, I wonder why? I offer my utmost respect to those who do that sort of work. I used templates and I just couldn't determine which I wanted... that's a whole 'nother story.

I gotcha. I created the keyworks, and then said to myself... "I'll just cut and paste the same info in the Description field'. I have a better understanding now.

Thank you.

I see! Sorry, when you said 'creator' I thought you meant a designer or programmer - my mistake!

If you want to get an idea of what a good description is and how it works in terms of SEO search on Google for Virtual Assistant Forum (first two results) and Virtual Assistant Forums (first result) and note the use of terms in the sentence, how we're appealing to searchers, etc. Of course you'll want to revise the concept to suit your business site, but will give you an idea.

Congrats on taking the initiative to jump into building your own site-templates or otherwise, it's an impressive undertaking!

I was able to use the wonderful tool to see how my website compared with searches. I think I'm ok. I will add some more keywords from time to time. I tried to search on google, but I believe it'll take a day or two to rank, if I heard correctly.

It can take quite a while to rank anywhere above the top 20 pages....truthfully - especially for 'virtual assistant' or any term related to - ongoing linkbuilding can help as well as watching your stats, results, etc. and tweaking on-site SEO accordingly.
