I really want to get as much knowledge as I can about SEO in regards to keywords, title tags, and meta descriptions and how to use the info effectively when I write webcopy for my clients.

I'm not website savvy. In other words, I don't want to get too involved in the behind the scenes of website set up and management.

I want to know enough about SEO to be able to be an expert regarding SEO website content and the basics as to how to set it up in the background of the website so that I can assist the client.

Caroline, I was just about to post a thread about this resource and thought it would apply to your quest Learning SEO is really an ongoing process as search engines change and update their algorithms and new techniques come into play - so the best thing you can do is start with a good foundation of understanding.

If you're just starting from scratch with SEO: there is a comprehensive list called The SEO's Handbook (a list of 53 linked online resources for learning and implementing SEO) from Neil Patel/Quicksprout.

It's a LOT of information but if you truly want to develop expert status I think you'll want to pay close attention to the blogs listed at the top of the list - Google's blog in particular has great information and the archives are a treasure trove. SEOMoz always has solid information and tutorials as well.

Thanks Tess! What an awesome resource. I guess I'm just gonna have to dive in where I'm at. LOL! SEO seems overwhelming. But I know that having quality seo website content is what most business owners are looking for. And that's what I want to give 'em!

I understand completely, it's overwhelming because there is SO much information. Practically, though, once you have a good foundation of understanding for how the search engines 'understand' a website it'll all fall into place for you.

And you can practice on your own site as you learn, which will be a great side benefit of your new direction!
