Arrow Google's +1 Button - will you be adding to your site?
From Google's page for 'Plus One'

The +1 button is shorthand for "this is pretty cool" or "you should check this out."

Click +1 to publicly give something your stamp of approval. Your +1's can help friends, contacts, and others on the web find the best stuff when they search.

Looks to be the same concept as Facebook's 'Like' button, except it's Google and that means a chance of impacting SEO/Traffic if they decide to attach +1 results to search rank, etc.

I'm not sure if I think it's worth adding to my sites at this stage, will have to do more research. Has anyone else added this to their sites or blogs?

I have had the capability to +1 for some time now. However I really do not +1 many pages. I think it is because when searching I do not want to get distracted by adding another step. Maybe I should change that.

I just discovered +1 today. I haven't added it to my site yet, but I have +1'd my clients and my own website. I'm waiting to see if this will have any future impact on site traffic.

I do see that it should be very similar to Facebook's LIKE button.

I came across this article today that details a list of interesting and important points re: +1 -as applicable to both webmasters and users.

As usual, the comments on the article are equally interesting, so do check those out too.

There is no doubt that +1 will impact search results - early adoption is probably smart.
See point #1 on the list:

1. The +1 button will influence search rankings. Here is the exact quote from Google’s David Byttow, from when the feature was first announced: “We’ll also start to look at +1’s as one of the many signals we use to determine a page’s relevance and ranking, including social signals from other services. For +1′s, as with any new ranking signal, we’ll be starting carefully and learning how those signals affect search quality over time.”

I've added it to my site, but one of the hiccups with it, is it doesn't connect with Google Apps accounts, because Apps accounts are not yet integrated with Google Profiles which is where the +1 links show up.....

Kind of silly on Google's part, since they have a pretty big audience in Google Apps. So while I have it on my site and I'll see how it goes, I won't be +1ing anyone in the near future because it's to much of a pain to change from my different Google accounts.

I'll be watching to see how it develops....

Hi
I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to explain a few more details on the +1 button. I was wondering,.....is this something you purchase and then add to your website? Also, I came across another news article on it - Google +1 Study - I would love to hear more about how this works.

I added it to my blog but TBH I hate the idea - it's far too open to manipulation by big companies simply paying for clicks, leaving us small businesses nowhere. JMHO

Leazell, you don't have to pay for the +1 button, it's similar to the Facebook 'Like' button (you'll see them around, they're even on the posts here at VAF). It's a way to help get more exposure for your site/content/info by giving people a way to promote/like/+1 whatever it is.

You just need a Google account and the snip of code added to your site, click here to get more info directly from Google.
