One of the biggest reasons NOT to use Flash on a website that you want properly indexed just went 'poof'! Adobe released enhanced Flash technology to Google and Yahoo that will allow the search engines to more accurately and effectively index the actual CONTENT of a Flash site (previously = to virtually ZERO indexing, so this is a big improvement!)
What does this mean for your Flash site? It means much better search visibility than was previously available. Seems Adobe is taking care of business now that it's acquired Macromedia - great news!
Check out the
recent PR from Adobe.
Here's an excerpt:
"Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced the company is teaming up with search industry leaders to dramatically improve search results of dynamic Web content and rich Internet applications (RIAs). Adobe is providing optimized Adobe® Flash® Player technology to Google and Yahoo! to enhance search engine indexing of the Flash file format (SWF) and uncover information that is currently undiscoverable by search engines. This will provide more relevant automatic search rankings of the millions of RIAs and other dynamic content that run in Adobe Flash Player."
