I've found a few good leads on Craigslist as well but they were job postings that were looking for onsite employees. I haven't had any luck with the jobs are labeled work from your own office or work from home. I stopped applying because I was tired of the spam. Overall I wouldn't recommend anyone using Craigslist as a primary advertising source. There are so many people try to get over on that site. I even had one guy ask me if I would do a website for him for free. He said I could add it to my portfolio when presenting to customers. I nicely explained to him that I have several sites that customers paid for in my portfolio.

I have not had much luck with Craigslist. It seems like everything I respond to looks legit but then I receive an email asking for something or other. I have also posted things on tere to sell and get the whole Money Order scam email.

C-Spryte - Yes the spam ads that jump out at me are the ones with the wide salary range or the ones that don't give that much information in the job ad. I applied to a few on craigslist and one email I got back had a bunch of misspellings and really awkward English so that one got deleted!

Thank you for this service - I did find one position on craiglist to apply to but didn't get the job. I posted my ad - haven't heard anything yet - I will beware

I am slowly learning, all the scams that are out there. I just go by the motto: "If it sounds to good to be true, it is". I tend to stay away from Craigslist, unless I have a household item I want to sell.

Wow, thanks for posting your experiences with Craigslist, they will ensure other VA's are either careful or avoid the situation all together.

There are always people out there trying to scam others and unfortunately due to the nature of our business we are more of a target than most.

Honestly, I was thinking of trying CL. After hearing the negative, CL may actually be put on hold. With that in mind, I think I will look for an alternative.
