Default Real Estate License & REVA

Hi - I was wondering how many REVA's have their real estate license. Is it needed to be successful as a REVA? I look forward to your replies.

Not necessary at all! In fact, many agents see a VA with an active license as possible future "competition". All that said, I do think the knowledge is extremely helpful! I have taken all my classes for a license and one of my team members has an inactive license. There is a cost to keeping an active license.

Just my two cents...not necessary but basic real estate knowledge is essential to being a REVA.

Regards

Cathryn is correct. You do not need your RE license. I had one as well and having that background and knowledge is a asset to your business. You can also learn a lot at www.realtor.org about RE Assistants.

Good luck,
Andrea

Hi Susan,

I too took all the classes for real estate sales license without intending to become a sales agent, did not take the test (still can should I choose); quite frankly I didn't find the information helpful for becoming a REVA at all. I have real estate clients and do not have a license, however there are agencies that want a licensed assistant but I am assuming that's to cover them if questions come in that unlicensed assistants cannot provide. I think being unlicensed or inactive license is better for your business because you don't want to be the Agent and put in the position of doing agent's business for him and he/they get all the commission! Just my two cents!

I have a real estate license, but it is only good for the state that I live in, it is not a license in any other state to do business. Because I am only licensed in one state, I think there should not be a conflict of interest or competition. I do not do my VA business with anyone in my state to avoid the atmosphere of conflict. I find that my license is not so much the asset, but the 15 years of experience that I have and I am confident in talking the language and familiar with products and technology. This you can learn also without having your license. It is expensive to keep you license, many states require on-going CE credits and membership to local, state and National boards. I think if you are comfortable without a license and have learned the language, than I do not see any reason to go to that expense.
