Lightbulb Do I need a certificate or license to work with a Real Estate Broker

Hi Everyone,

I am new here and I figured this was the best place to post my question. I was approached by a Real Estate Broker who wants me to do document management for her. She wants me to gather all of the necessary documents, put them in order, submit them to the lender, contact the client if something is needed and give them updates.

I came across an article that mentioned Licensed Real Estate Assistants and I don't want to get into any trouble by not having the proper credentials and the article didn't go into detail. I have searched the web for info and can't find anything.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Cam -

Does the Broker want document management or Closing Coordination? Sounds like the Broker wants a little of both. When I do document management, I simply organize the paperwork for compliance without interaction with lender, buyers/sellers, etc. Closing Coordination involves paperwork plus interaction with lender, co-op agent, buyer/seller, title, etc...

You don't need a licensed for either document management or closing coordination. However, you must be very educated on the unlicensed assistant laws in the client's state. Your interactions must not violate those laws. The laws vary from state to state so make sure you are well informed.

Best wishes!

Thank you Ladies. Now, that I have a description, it is Closing Coordination. I am going to do the training and find out the laws to be sure that I am in compliance.

I really appreciate your guidance. If anyone knows of any books I should have on hand, please recommend them.
