Default Activerain blog vs. Wordpress blog
Hello Everyone,

I just have a quick question and I am hoping that someone out there can share their two cents.

I currently have my blog on wordpress.com. It isn't anything fancy, but I do blog as often as I can. I am a Real Estate Professional Assistant (REPA) and have an account with Activerain.

I have always maintained my blog on wordpress rather than on activerain, because frankly, I am not *that* creative to maintain two blogs.

My question is, for those of you in the real estate industry (or even those who aren't) do you think I should transfer my wordpress.com blog to my activerain account and only blog on activerain from now on? Considering this is where alot of prospective clients hang out?

I am not sure which avenue would be *more* beneficial.

I'd love to see others answers to this question, as I've been wondering the same thing. For now, I'm just doing my WP blog as, while I am mainly a REVA, I do have other things I do. And I've been marketing my website and look at the blog as an extension of that, not as my sole online space. Anyway, curious to know what others think as well!

Rebekah,

I sent an email to an active rain guru to ask him my question. He (has way to much time on his hands - kidding ) currently has 8 different blogs that are written to 8 different audiences. He also stressed *NO DUPLICATIONS* - hence, my thought of too much time on his hands LOL

He said it is really a personal preference. He has blogs on both wordpress and active rain. I am not going to delete my blog with wordpress just yet, but I am going to actively start blog on activerain. My thoughts that prospective clients are on activerain thus I would hope increase my chances that much more of connecting with people who are directly within my target market. Whereas, wordpress it isn't guaranteed a real estate agent will see my blog.

I will keep you posted on my success. I would still like to hear from other people who are willing to share their two cents.

Hi Vanessa~ Great question! I started blogging on Active Rain 3 years ago with great success, and last year started a free Wordpress blog to see how I could manage both..it is kind-of hard, and I have all but given up on my Wordpress blog, until I have defined my specific target market for it. I had decided that I would need to add some different dynamics to do my Wordpress one any justice. (its a work in progress)

That being said..I look at it this way. With Active Rain you are directly in front of your target market and are more likely to get feedback and comments which is more essential when you are trying to start a conversation about your business. Plus, it inspires you and helps you gain an audience. That, in turn can give you more ideas for your Wordpress blog which might have more in-depth info, or whatever you choose.

Feel free to look me up on AR..this is a great discussion to have! HTH!

I blog on my active rain account and my wordpress blog hosted on my own domain. My goal for the active rain account is to post a blog post once a week. I post to my wordpress blog daily. The idea is to create a schedule that you can stick with. Just my two cents on the issue.
