Default What fee?
I think it is time to raise my fee because I feel like I am undercharging. I know we are not supposed to discuss fees on board. If anyone is willing to PM me off board, I would like to know what the average is that is being charged per transaction and how much up front, etc. Thanks.

I wish we could talk rates; I'm just starting out and it's hard to come up with a rate I don't want to scare clients off.

Have you tried looking through fellow REVA's websites to see what they charge? Perhaps fine-tuning your search to those who specialize in the same services you do? When I was first starting out as a virtual assistant, this was the quickest and most effective way to get my bearings.

@Tricia, we can't openly discuss rates, in depth, on the board due to various laws about industry price fixing (applies to any industry). It's also off-putting for potential clients who read the forums - and they surely do.

I'd also recommend reading through the Rates and Billing section on VAF for more information to help you set your rates.

I also suggest checking out other VA's website to review their fees. I know I post rates on my companies website.

Best of Luck,
Julie

Marlex Solutions,

You can check our others rates and also those in the area around you. However, only you know how much income you need. My rates are standard and while I did discount for my first few clients I chose a rate that will allow me to work with MY business model. If it is off putting to clients then they are not my ideal client.

Figure out how much you would like to earn each year (or month) factor in taxes and fees that you will owe to Uncle Sam and your state and municipality. You will also need to remember general business expenses as well as professional development and marketing. After calculating this then you will have an idea of where you should be.

Keep in mind that there are different costs of living on East and West coast so while I am inline with east coast rates I could be viewed as low for west coast standards.
