Welcome Michelle! I think you should start off right here and read through all the posts. Make sure to post any questions you might have as well!

Hi Michelle~

Welcome to the world of Virtual Assistance!

I am a real estate virtual assistant, and have been for about 5 years. I'm not sure what your background is in real estate, but one thing I might suggest is pick the "niche within the niche" that you absolutely love and become the best you can at that..rather than try to to absolutely everything.

For example, I specialize in Listing/Marketing Coordination, Internet Marketing, a Social Media Marketing, but I usually will subcontract with an Associate VA for Leads/Database Management, or Transaction Coordination, unless it is simply per project work. Build a very detailed website of your services..and perhaps even create "pages" that highlight the services you really love do. Of course a blog helps too

Join online networking forums like this wonderful site to get your name out there, as well as other Real estate forums, to talk about what you do, and to be able to respond to RFP's of those looking for a VA.

Best of luck to you and a prosperous business in 2009!

Hi
This is really interesting as I never really considered working with real estate as a VA. I wonder if anyone can shed any light how I could go about doing this in the UK (Scotland). In a past life (before VA) I worked as a Property Manager at an estate agents so I think I probably have all the qualifications required!
Thanks
Diane

Diane

If you just cast your mind back to your Property Manager days, then you will remember all of those reminders and necessary regular tasks that needed doing all at once. Maybe you could do a property audit by cold calling local real estate agents and taking on those reminder/phone call/follow ups that agents find aren't getting done. It might be as simple as doing those regular property inspections with a checklist and a digital camera. And, even compiling a database of local tradespeople, services that you have(/or will have) a relationship with.

Hope this helps.
