Default Real Estate Is Down
So in my endeavor to starting my real estate VA business I have interviewed some real estate VA's on their opinion as well as actual real estate brokers and agents. I got great feedback from the VA's but negative from the realtors.

I have tons of contacts in the real estate industry because I have been doing mortgages here for 6 yrs and my husband has been doing it for 8 years.

I want to make the right decision but trying to go in fully informed. Any input or thoughts??

First of all welcome to the forum. I would say go for it. You already have a leg up on most people because you have contacts in the industry. I would suggest that you have some sort of plan to help you weather the down times that our industry is dealing with right now.

I work with a RE agent team who is doing very well. They handled resort properties and high-end luxury properties which have been doing much better than middle to low end real estate. You might want to check out agents who handle rentals as well. We sell and list weekly, which surprised me.

The good thing about being a VA is your are not limited to one geographic area. Market your services in the areas that are still doing well. I'm in Oklahoma and real estate is still very active, it's more of a buyer's market now where a couple of year's ago it was a seller's market, but either way real estate is still moving.

Yes real estate is now so keep that in mind. You might have to be very specific with the realtors you are targeting. I have a real estate license as well and still have a few real estate clients, but trying to get realtors to get an assistant these days has been a bit challenging for. They are uncertain about their income and hiring someone doesn't guarantee the state of the market will change.

Hi,

I thought I would jump in here and give my 2 cents on this topic. The real estate market might in a slump right now, but now is the time a real estate agent, broker, etc., needs the experience and knowledge of a real estate virtual assistant.

Real Estate is not moving like it was, so now the agent must work harder and smarter to win the client's confidence. This means they have to be more creative in their marketing, more agressive in their strategies to market the property and to create a way to generate more solid leads.

The qualified REVA can offer all this and more to the RE client. You can offer new marketing ideas, create way for them to promote their listings and to generate more leads.

So, even though the industry is slow in moving real estate right now, it really is the best time to offer your services as a REVA.

In the 10 years I have been a REVA, I think I am busier than ever and I thank to Lord everyday for the business and it is just getting better and better, but I am working harder in providing my clients with the best service possible and helping them create new ways to advertise their listings, generate more solid leads and focusing on creative marketing techniques for them.

So, regardless of what is going on in the real estate industry or any industry for that fact, do let corporate America decide for you what you dream of doing. You might just have to work harder, which we should all do anyway.

I hope this helps and gives a more positive perspective on the topic.

Kim,

THANK YOU for the positivity - much appreciated. Sometimes it is hard to stay positive when you are face with so many challenges and obstacles - particularly when you are working from home and don't necessarily have the support you would do working for an organization.

That is why forum such as this one are so important - the support and comradeship on this board have been a phenomenal motivator to me.
