Default Should I charge one fee for all services?
Right now, I'm planning to offer an hourly plan, per project plan and a retainer plan with varied discounts ranging from 5% to 20% depending on the number of hours client purchase in advance. However, should I charge one fee for admin work and another fee for design/marketing work? To make things easier, I was planning to charge one rate across all tasks.

That's the way I've set up my pricing structure, too.
I think charging different fees for different tasks would drive me nuts. I would always be checking twice - and then again - and I'd probably still mess it up at least once.

I wonder what the other responces will be....

I think it is a personal preference. I have price tiers that I use. I do admin, bookkeeping and consulting services, so I have 3 main pricing categories. Then within those categories I have tiers; ongoing, project and bulk hours. I just set them up in QB and I only have to input the code I am using for each tier and it puts the rate in there. This can make it complicated especially if you have several clients all using different tiers, but I have a card posted to my desk with my codes on it. I also have a card with the client's name on it and what tier they are using.

I'm a stickler for details and this is what works best for me. The key is to figure if you want it to be simple and straight across the board or not. I hope this helps.

I also use a tiered (hourly rate) system and find it works well. Combined with my project and retainer plans it gives the prospective client various options.

It is though a personal choice so you will have to go with what feels right for you.

Thanks for the feedback. I was curious to see what others were doing. Having one rate would definitely be easier for me to keep up with.

I do bookkeeping and admin work so I charge 2 different rates. I offer a 5% discount for prepaid hours (in increments of 5 hours). I also use quickbooks, which makes the invoicing a snap...

I charge according to the service being provided; the more detailed and difficult the higher the rate.

For example; writing a 300 word seo enhanced article gets invoiced at a lower rate than reconciling a year's worth of bank or credit card statements into QuickBooks.

I charge one rate for all tasks, except for bespoke work.

It's easier to offer packages and discounts then.

I charge one rate for all services. I'm charging for my time, so I don't see why it matters how I'm spending it. Even if I complete a task that maybe requires less knowledge or expertise, it's still taking up time that I could be putting toward other projects (and it's still saving the clients from having to do the work themselves). Just my opinion!

I charge one rate for all services as well, and that has worked out just fine for me and all my clients for 4 years.
