Question SEO and Site Submission. What's In A Rate?
OK, I finally overhauled my client's splash page and have it uploaded (whew!). Now I am in the process of submitting to the search engines. So here's an interesting question that I could use some input.

Is it OK to charge at the web designer's rate since this take quite a bit of time and brain work to shuffle through all the confirmations. Or do I charge at the office administration rate?

I will not post my rates here, but at this time I have 2 classes of rates. Design and Admin work only.

Is SEO/Submission a whole class in itself?

Our billing system is similar to yours in that we have numerous sets of rates.
At the moment - We bill off-site SEO (linkbuilding, etc.) at the admin rate as it's not technical. On-site SEO is a natural part of the design/redesign process so ends up getting billed at the programming and design rate. Consultation is billed at the admin rate as well.
Hope that helps! What are your own inclinations with this issue?
