After that Seinfeld episode when George's fiancee died licking envelopes, my tongue has never licked another envelope. I know it's just a show, but you never know.

I'm also afraid of paper cuts of the lips. Another cheap alternative to licking envelope's is a piece of sponge dipped in water.

When I started working in for a real estate/vacation rental company, they got me in the habit of using scotch tape on envelopes because of the urban legend about roaches laying eggs in the glue and them hatching in your mouth or something like that. I didn't believe it but I still couldn't get past that image...lol (I purchase the self-adhesive envelopes at work...lol)

Thanks for the answer!

Another substitute for your tongue... at Office Depot, you can get a small plastic bottle with a double-sided, slatned sponge as a cap. You just fill it up with water, put the sponge-cap back on and start slicking envelopes! Saves your tongue from paper cuts too and only costs $0.79 a bottle.

Edited:
ps - just saw AtlanticVA's comment... that's an even better idea.

Good luck!

Hi,

My advice would be to charge a set up fee one time $25.00, charge $.50 to $.80 per letter. For the label may be $.10 per label. If you are folding and stuff, maybe add additional $.25. You might want to got to https://fedexkinkosdirectmail.aas.com/login.asp and used the price quote and another site you might want to use is http://my.zairmail.com/zairmail/costcalc.asp

I found them both helpful. I used to managed for Kinko's and it really not that expense to do. Rule of thumb under 600 try to keep in house over 1000 send it out.

I hope it helps

I've realized that it would be much easier doing the print job myself and I would be supplying the paper, ink(b/c) and labels.

Thanks

Great calculation figures. I was doing my own math and wasn't sure if it was too expensive and with your figures below I know know that I was right on the ball. Thanks for the links I am going to check it out.

Re: Envelope licking

I had a friend who worked in a envleope factory and she said she the stuff that goes in that glue from the workers is nothing you wan to know about!

Supposedly the workers smoke and drop ciggarettes and ashes in there amongst other things like there lunch and spit etc. DON'T EVER LICK AN ENVELOPE!!!
