Default Prices viewable on website or not?
Hello All -

I am not sure if this topic has been visited but would you recommend putting rates for services on my website?

Originally, I had rates posted and then when I sent it out to my distribution list asking for feedback, a lot of people recommended that I take the rates off because it may be scaring potential clients from actually dialing me.

One person, a friend of mine, posed the following. He said, "I realize that your hourly rate is $XX/hour. However, you are trying to get clients. Would you not take the business if they only could pay you $XX/hour?" His suggestion to me is to get them to call and then negotiate in the event they cant offer me my hourly rate.

...Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi there
There's a really loooong thread (here) that I'm sure will help give you some insight into what others feel about this...and I'm certain some new replies will pop up here as well.

Hope that helps!

Virtual Assistance is still a misunderstood business.

Your business is no different than the hairdresser, the dentist, the doctor, the lawyer, the nail salon, the daycare center. All of these businesses provide a service. They tell you how much the service costs and then you pay it. If you don't like the cost you go somewhere else. You don't negotiate the price.

If people think your rates are too high well, that's too bad for them.

My 2 cents.

Thanks Guys. I am going to have to think on this. I read so many of the replies and they all make sense. On one side of the coin, I feel as if I should not negotiate my price because I may be expected to do it again. I feel as though I am worth every red cent. On the flip side, I feel as though, if I am over priced, I may never get a client. Decisions, Decisions...But thank you for your advise. I am pondering...

And you know, you can alway experiment with one way and then the other if you decide otherwise - nothing is set in stone

Yes, the website has been up for about 2 weeks. Not one call, but over 700 hits. I am not sure what that is about. I will try this for awhile and then post the prices...Good idea. Thank you..

Where are the hits coming from? You should figure that out so you know what you're doing right/wrong.
