Default Need advice
I have built my new website for my va business focusing on the WAHM industry. While I don't want to sell myself short, I know that as a WAHM myself, I couldn't afford the hourly rate that most va's charge. I would love some feedback on the rate I listed on my website. I know that it is unethical to discuss rates here, however, I am concerned about how I should rate WAHMs. Would I be better to stick with the hourly rate I have listed on my website or should I set a small monthly fee? If you could check it out at http://www.wahmvirtualhelper.com I would appreciate any feedback.

Thank you,
Debra Nail

Hi Debra,
Only you can really determine what rates you're going to charge your clients - it should be based on things like your level of skill, experience, types of services, etc.
Taking into account your target market...if you strongly believe they're unable to afford average industry rates then that's something to consider but I don't think any service provider should sell themselves short. There are clients in every market who need highly skilled assistance and are capable of paying for the quality of work they're in need of.

If you're concerned about how your potential clients will perceive the value of what you offer relative to your rates then perhaps offering both an hourly and a monthly option would be a good choice?

That way, those who perceive the most value in paying hourly can do so while those who relate better to the monthly retainer can select that.

Hey Tess,

I went to take a look at her site and she's shut it down.
