I tend to bill clients every month. I provide them with a regular update, but I always send out my invoices on the 25th of the month with a breakdown of times etc.
I invoice my clients every other Friday.
When we first started out I'd invoice every week but it was too much work for ME This way I have half as many invoices to keep track of.

I bill my regular clients on the 1st of each month. I bill my consulting clients in advance. I also have a few project clients that I bill upon completion of the project with a deposit in advance.

My fee structure is such that they purchase a (currently) 5 hour block of time in advance of services, so I bill when they are down to 1 our left of that. So it really depends on how often they use me.. Some only want to spend enough for the 5 hours and thats it.. others are billed at least twice a month (of course I like them the best :-).
I have been billing the 15th and the 30th but I don't like to break up billing in the middle of the week because I like to give a running total of what I have worked for the week, Sunday through Saturdays. If the 15th falls in the middle of that week, I'm off. I'd rather just work a week and bill, work a week and bill. So to answer your question, I bill twice a month but now that I read how others bill, I may just do every other Saturday.
