I'll throw in another vote for Google Checkout. They are definitely my favorite service for invoice payments! Zoho Invoice pairs with Google Checkout too which allows for super easy invoicing.

I use PayPal, but I pay all the processing fees. I build them right into my hourly rate. They are tax deductible as a business expense.
I am not passing any processing fees down to the client for invoice payment. I see that as a cost of business and just something to take into account when figuring out what fees I need to charge.
I'm curious as to how this works with your bank? Do you have to have an account with them? Do they invoice or do you? How do clients make payments into your account?
I'm used to using PayPal for purchases and had been considering them for my business. But now I'm having reservations. Using my bank seems extremely secure!
You can check with your bank to see if they offer credit card processing services; merchant accounts. OR search for a merchant account on your own. Sometimes bank fees are much higher than if you set up your own merchant account. You would submit the invoice; and the client would pay using their credit card or echeck; you could have them fill out a credit card authorization form so that you always have their info on file; once they approve an invoice you bill their card. You can do that using your merchant account virtual terminal. OR if you set up a service like FreshBooks and link it to your merchant account; you can send the invoice and the client will have the ability to view their invoice and pay your bill online.
I too have had very bad experiences with Paypal. One of which was an exchange issue. They stated that their exchange was XX and then gave me a lower rate. They claimed it was my timing. Right! Thereafter I started using a merchant account and charging clients on their credit card. The nice thing about that is that I can put the payment through (after getting an ongoing permission letter from the client). This way I know when the money will be coming. No late payments.
With starting my business this all has been some great information, and I will look into them all. I used google checkout when I had my online boutique business and I never had a problem with it. So I guess while I am in the process of checking out all the other options then I think google is the way I am going to go.
