Default Hours Tallied on Invoice in QB?
Hi there,

Sorry if this has already been addressed... Does anyone know if the professional invoice template (or any invoice template) in QB will tally up the "qty" column - thus providing a total # of hours worked on the actual invoice?

Maybe I'm just overlooking it. Since I began my biz, I've just used a job report to show a total # of hours worked since my invoice doesn't. I've never bothered to take a bunch of time looking into it, but think it would make invoicing much friendlier for me if I can figure this out. (it's time-consuming already w/o then having to go in for ea. client & print off a total hours report too.)

Hope this made sense & that I'm not asking a really stoopid question! lol TIA!
(PS - oh yah, in case it matters, my QB is on my Mac)

I just checked the QB ProAdvisor community...several people want the option of totaling hours, but it doesn't appear the QB currently is capable of doing so. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Oh Thanks Angie! I don't know why I didn't think to look on the QB community. Well, hopefully they'll release something eventually - until then I guess I'll have to stick to my reports. Does everyone else do this too, or do y'all just make the client figure it out from your invoices? LOL

OR... do you use something different for your billing?

I use an excel spreadsheet to track my time and then input the totals into the QB invoice. The last item I enter on the invoice (usually!) is the combined total from my excel spreadsheet, since excel can total it for me quickly and efficiently and the data entry is minor.

I use Quickbooks to track my time for clients. When I run a time report it gives me the date, activity and number of hours and at the bottom it gives a total of hours for the specific time period. This report will give me breakdowns for all clients I'm working for during that specific period.

Thanks Lily & Carol! I do already use the QB time reports (which gives me the job hour totals), so I'm sure I'll keep doing that. I was just hoping to get the actual invoice to total it up w/o needing a manual entry, but maybe I'll just start taking the totals from my report & just enter on the invoice before printing.

Thanks again for the feedback everyone!
