Question Charging for transciption
I have been churning this over for several days now. I got feedback regarding charging for transcription work. It was stated that charging per minute was preferred over an hourly flat fee. But in looking at several web site folks are still charging by the hour. What if a tape is only 20 minutes, and your are charging by the minute. Whereas, if you are charging an hourly fee, and that an hour was the mininum regardless of how long (20-30 minutes) the tape was. I am still puzzled about which route to chose. Please help, need this for almost completed web site.

My friend charges in 15-minutes increments with a 1 hour minimum. I do the same but try not to do transcription. I worked for a Korean radiologist for over 7 years & understand foreign accents in person. Over a recorder is a entirely different story.

My point is that you could still charge by the minute (or in 15-minute increments) with a minimum of $x no matter how short the tape is.
