Default Anyone on here offer HR or recruitment assistance as a service?
An existing client has asked us to assist them with a recruiting drive to hire new staff. Although my background prior to running my own business was in the area of HR it is a while since I have worked in the industry. I ran one recruitment project for a long standing client when I set up in business first but that was a good few years ago now and I feel I need a heads up - in particular on how to price the project based on their needs and expectations.

Many thanks in advance.

Well, you have HR experience already, so that is good. Although, recruting is a bit different. Do you know what kind of position they need to fill? And the time frame they have? Do you know which type of candidate you will work with? Employed or unemployed?

Thanks for the reply ... and I just thought I would add a little bit more about what I want as I don't think my original message is that clear.

I have also worked in recruitment too in the past and have recruited candidates directly from college (Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, etc.,) as well as from industry - so I know the groundwork I have to cover.

My main query is - because I don't offer HR/Recruiting as a service as such - I am not sure how those who do charge for it operate. In addition, my client is US based and I am based in Europe so the way things work there may be different to here because of location.

I am trying to figure out if people normally charge by the hour (and an approximate figure would be a real help (it doesn't have to be specific if you are uncomfortable posting that kind of information publicly)? Or do they charge on a per project basis? Or do they charge (as their fee) a percentage of the salary offered to the successful candidate? Is HR/Recruiting billed differently, for example, in the US as compared with general admin or similar?

I hope that's a bit clearer ... and all help very much appreciated.

I think the pricing method is up to you. I read on "The 2-Second Commute" book that you can charge $45 per hour for "HR expertise". If you have done this before, you can calculate the amount of hours it would take you to do it and determine what method would be best for you to use. I hope this helps!

Thanks for that. I am inclined to charge a per hour rate for this project simply because it's not always easy to tell upfront how long it will take from start to finish. And also, I think it's both a fair and transparent method of billing for all concerned. I appreciate your advice, thanks so much

I plan on offering it in my services. HR can really boost your marketability as this can really be helpful to businesses.
