Default Another Pricing Question
Hello to everyone

Can anyone offer me any ideas on how to charge an organization where there are multiple members wanting to use my services? Not everyone will be using the service. Just about 2 or 3 out of 5. I charge by the hour or on a retainer. I don't want to shortchange myself if I am doing more work for one and not as much work for the others. Do I charge individually?

Thanks in advance

I would absolutely bill individually. Although, setting them up on a retainer (as a group) and letting them work out the use issues might solve the problem as well?

Have the individual clients expressed anything one way or the other? That they are contracting you together or individually?

Who is the hiring client?

Well it was a representative of the group gathering information. At least 2 of the members will need the service right away but the others do not anticipate using the service right away. I just need to know how to respond to the representative when I speak with them. Since this is my first request for this kind of client, I figured I would come to this forum where there a wealth of information.

Sure, well I'm only asking questions to try to better understand the situation, to make sure I'm telling you what I would do in the same circumstances.
I'd probably bill individually - unless they wanted to be on a retainer as a group in which case it's then up to them how to manage the use of the time they've bought.

Thanks Tess...As always your provide excellent advice. I will present them with both options. I was kind of thinking along the lines of a retainer for the group simply because it will be easier to build for the services used. And like you said, they will have to figure out how to manage the time they bought.

It seems like letting them set up a retainer service together would be most beneficial to them? If you are tracking hours, then they can divy up the responsibility by applying the balance proportionally each month. I would atleast offer it, and if they decline you can know you've done your part to give them the best savings advice.
